ABC Mini Challenge "K" is for Kumquats"

Blue & orange are a favorite. I love subjects where I can use a lot of bright orange or red. The small vintage glass bowl was just the right size to hold a dozen or so kumquats...and what a delight to eat! I'm thinking of looking up some desert recipes using kumquats...sliced up on top of vanilla ice cream would be like a Creamsicle!

I love this! I especially like the distortion of the stripes through the glass. I'm intrigued by the slightly orange edge around the rim of the bowl and trying to figure out how you did that. Is it part of your drawing or is it reflected color from the kumquats? So nice!

I'm enjoying watching you work your way through this series! Lovely work... to me your work has a perfect balance between detail and looser expression.

Thanks, Virginia. The rim...some of the orange color is where I wiped off revealing the tone of the panel, some are brushstrokes of orange that I saw reflected from the kumquats.

Thanks, Mary. I am happy to be back blogging on a more regular basis. Now, I need to make time to visit my blogger friends to see what you all are up to!

Thanks, Kathleen. I tend to work tight on large paintings on canvas. Working on small gessoed panels with brushes large for the panel size is key to loosness. Guess I should start painting my large paintings with #20 or so! That might do it.
