Still Life with Lemons & Striped Cloth

" Still Life with Lemons & Stripes "
Oil
6"x6"
Busy, bright and it was fun to paint! I love this vintage pressed glass plate and it's wavy optics. Once again I used my one of my favorite fabrics, a woven stripe of many colors. Cheery colors and stripes for these stressful times we are in. Peace and love to all.

Oh I really like this. The lemons look great and I love the effect the clear glass has on the fabric. You are right - very cheerful.

Thanks, Karen. The glass plate seems more obvious to me today. After looking at and painting the stripes my eyes were crossed!

That is one of my favorite fabrics you use. That and the dish towel.

Great use of that thick plate to move those lines around a bit.

Thanks, Frank. I do wish I had a large piece of this fabric, it is just a remnant. Stripes are so easily "directed" in a set-up.

Again, this is your masterpiece subject. I can't even say how much I love it. I have been trying stripes but they seem to look like they're going uphill. I find them optically difficult.
You inspire me to get out the lemons to go with the yellow spider mums I bought tonight.
You ROCK!

Thanks, Mary. I will have to check in with your blog soon to see the spider mums, which to me seem a difficult subject. I should try more flowers!

i'm with frank on this one, absolutely one of my favorite fabrics that you use. the distortions from the dish are wonderful with all those stripes, and those lemons really 'center' this painting, despite all the color, stripes and distortions my eyes go right there.

btw, i've been enjoying all your new work, i may not get to compliment on each one, but i look forward to them in my feed reader as soon as they pop up!!

Thanks Christine. I've decided what makes this fabric so wonderful is the black stripe and the white stripe, also the pale pink..such an unusual combination of colors.

Thanks, Terry. Nice to be the queen of something, anything! Queen for a Daily Painter of Stripes. Yikes, so much power to wield.
