Putter, Labradoodle, dog portrait

" Putter "

Putter's owner, Tommy, is a golf pro hence the name. I wanted a grassy green background to add to the theme. I like the simplicity of the straight forward composition. Nothing more charming than the loving gaze from your best friend! I hope Tommy is pleased.

Thanks, Jean. My recent painting of sheep helped, as Putters fur coat was very similar. Lots of scumbling and glazing to get the wooly effect. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Thanks, Liz. I really enjoy painting these small 6x6 dog portraits. In a way, the small size projects a more intimate, special feeling than a larger portrait can. Small jewels to remind us of our "best friends".

Gorgeous portrait of Putter! Such beautiful curls and such lovely detail for a 6 x 6.

I am finding 6x6's perfect for a head/portrait of pets. I use a #4 or #6 bright for the entire painting...using only a detail brush, like a round # 1 for the eye detail. Helps me keep loose.
