Daily painting, Sheep, Domestic animals

An alternate title to this little painting could be "Happy Sheep"...I really enjoyed painting this image. The day I photographed the sheep going past my house was warm and sunny. I stood low in the barrow behind a phone terminal box to be obscure and not frighten the sheep. This put me at eye level with them and I loved the shots I took.

Happy Sheep is a perfect title. They really look like they're delighted to be trotting along. Wonderful painting!

Wait... Jennifer, you have 'Sheepscapes'? How very wonderful! I love this, and am amazed that you have this thing to LOOK at outside your house!

Very nice piece!

Thanks, Kelly. Yep, we live in an amazing area in central Idaho. The trees in the background of this little sheep painting is the base of Baldy Mt., world famous Sun Valley ski area. My husband has his 40 Year Pin for ski instruction...skiing is his passion! The sheep are driven to the mountains as soon as the snow leaves and then they are moved down valley in the fall. Hope to do more paintings in this series.

Really like the crop and the lovely wool detail!

Ah, wool, fur, etc. Just a matter of layering. Sometimes best to do the lights when the undercolors are a bit dry or use a very loaded brush..barely touching the wet paint you are putting the new color over. That's a tip I will add in my next blog.
